Inspired by the classic, and Academy Award winning, Laurel & Hardy short "The Music Box" (1932), directed by James Parrott. Originally intended by Edwards to be a vehicle for Richard Pryor and Burt Reynolds.
Actor and gambler Spencer Holden (Ted Danson) overhears gangsters, Binky and Turnip (Stuart Margolin and Richard Mulligan), at the racetrack talking about doping a horse to win the race. When the thugs find out, they trail him and his restauranteur buddy, Dennis Powel (Howie Mandel), to make sure they don't go to the authorities.
