EXC ORIG 1939 OLIVER HARDY HARRY LANGDON ZENOBIA DIALOGUE CONTINUITY HAL ROACH FEATUREFrom the collection of a well known Hollywood-based movie historian, collector, author, archivist and intimate of the late great Hal Roach, comes this holy grail item for Roach fans. An original Dialogue Continuity to the AMERICAN VERSION of the classic OLIVER HARDY – HARRY LANGDON feature ZENOBIA. One of the only sound Hal Roach features that paired Hardy with someone other than Stan Laurel (who was striking Roach for a higher salary for the team) also starred Billie Burke, Hattie McDaniel and Stepin Fetchit. Much like a script, the dialogue continuity features all the spoken and sung words heard on the film. The continuity would serve as a record of all the dialogue for other key departments at the studio and for filing as proof of content with the U.S. Copyright office (often in lieu of sending an actual print of the film). Hal Roach Studio offices file copy has yellow front and back covers along with 41 pages detailing every line of dialogue and lyric heard in the film. Continuity is dated March 4, 1939 and is for the American Version. Continuity is fully complete in excellent condition. Original front yellow cover cover has some minor creasing on the front and wear at the claps on the back. at the top and some stress tearing at the clasps. Back cover has light wear. Interior pages are supple and cream colored and generally free of any rips, tears, creases, stains or blemishes. Final 10-15 pages have minor pinhole/pencil tip indentations on the right hand side. Unless you attended the Hal Roach Studios auction back in 1963, here is your chance to have an authentic piece of Hollywood history directly from the hallowed Culver City “Lot of fun”.
