New York London: Louis De Rochemont Associates / Grand Prize Films, 1962
    Description:
Draft script for an unproduced film.
Based on the 1909 one-act play. Blanco Posnet, a drunkard in a small Western town, faces hanging for stealing the sheriff's horse, but the situation grows complicated when the jury learns that Posnet gave the horse to a woman carrying her dying child to the doctor, in spite of the knowledge that he would be more easily caught on foot. The play was banned in its day for its blasphemous discussion of the subjectivity of good and evil, and adapted decades later by prolific screenwriter and lyricist Henry Myers who was known for "Destry Rides Again" (1939) and "Hey, Rookie" (1944).
