Katharine Hepburn's debut, a role in which she plays the daughter of a mentally ill man whose wife has divorced him and now intends to marry someone else. When Hepburn realizes that the psychiatric problems are likely inherited, she breaks from her fiance to ensure the genes are not passed to another generation, and stays with her father instead.
