    Description

These giant matchbooks were novelty greeting cards with puns and wordplay printed on the extra-large matches. Popular in the '30s and '40s, this example may have cheered up an ailing friend. The back still bears the name of the founding brothers, J.C. and Rollie Hall, under the crowned Hallmark logo (the term connoting quality, was also a bit of fortuitous wordplay for J.C. Hall who created the brand). Hall Brothers, Inc. was used with the logo until 1954.
