A hardened LAPD detective (Bronson) is growing older and slipping into a life fueled by alcohol when he is framed by ex-convict Joan Freeman (Snodgress) as vengeance for putting her in jail years later. In jail he is handcuffed to Arabella McGee (Willhoite) a foul-mouthed petty criminal he put behind bars as well, with whom he escapes prison and sets off to prove Freeman is the true killer. After a twisted story with bad cops with mob connections and a criminal who is more a friend than imagined, the film ends with a showdown in which McGee's life hangs in the balance.
Set in Los Angeles, and shot on location there.
