This is an original US Navy flat hat for the
USS
Wilkes
(DD-67)
. A period piece and not a reproduction.  Hat is in fair shape.
It has a gilt wire lettered tally showing age and turning dark in places. Signs of another tally under the USS Wilks because of ghost lettering showing as a green bleed. Stitching around tally is fraying badly and top brim seams are out of alinement on steel inter stiffener. Two small moth holes to the bottom of brim and one spot on top. Please view all photos as part of the description and ask any questions before bidding.
