    - The immortal Jose Rizal, "Father of Philippine Independence," is depicted on the one-piso coin
    - The first Philippine painter to win international fame, Juan Luna, is featured on the twenty-five-sentimo coin. Another national leader was Francisco Baltasar, commemorated on the ten-sentimo coin
