    Draft script for the 1939 film, with two annotations in holograph pencil on front wrapper including names of screenwriters "G Gabriel" and "R. Thoeren." Paramount "File Copy" stamp, "File Copy" stamp, "Master File" stamp and production number stamp "812" on front wrapper.
    Based on the 1917 play by Lajos Biro and previously filmed in Hungary in 1917 and said to star Victor Varconi, now lost, and in 1927, directed by Mauritz Stiller and starring Pola Negri and James Hall. Remade in 1943 as "Five Graves to Cairo," directed Billy Wilder and starring Franchot Tone and Anne Baxter. In the final campaigns of WWI, polish actress Ann Warschaska (Isa Miranda), intent on avenging her sister's suicide, and exhausted Austrian Lieutenant Stephen Nemassy (Ray Milland) attempt to survive at the Hotel Imperial in the small war-torn Polish town of Sucha.
