Mentor Ohio was once seen as the Rose Capital of the world with an ideal climate for growing championship flowers. Melvin E. Wyant who lived from 1894 to 1977 opened a Nursery on Johnny Cake Ridge road in 1924 was the go-to guy for rose expertise of his time who was also called upon to judge many National Rose competitions.
