Description
You're bidding on a cool, vintage Art Deco period ashtray - 6" long, 4" wide and about 1" thick - unmarked, but known to be a design of Vidrio Products Corp, Cicero, Illinois. Vidrio produced lamp bases, ashtrays and many other consumer products, mostly in agate glass, from about 1929-1936. Although short lived, they produced a number of items of high quality that are frequently mistaken for bigger, better known competitors like Houze & Akro. This piece is nice, brown & sort of ivory slag type swirling color, with Deco period style. There's a round platform above the tray that was actually meant to hold a lighter that Vidrio produced - at 2 1/8" diameter, it would make a great seat for a shot glass or small footed cocktail glass. Piece is in very good condition, clean with no chips or cracks.
